Frequently asked questions

What RPE do I need for airborne asbestos fibres?
For regular exposure to asbestos fibres, Thermac recommends a full-face or half-face asbestos mask fitted with a P3 filter.
Do I need to shave to wear a full-face mask?
Yes. Users must be clean-shaven to form an effective seal around the face when wearing a full-face mask. If a user is unwilling to shave, a hooded or helmet-style respirator should be considered.
Can I wear glasses while using a full-face mask?
No. Spectacles can interfere with the seal around the user's face. Users should instead wear contact lenses or have prescription lenses fitted inside the mask.
What face-fit test do I need for a full-face mask?
Quantitative face-fit testing is used for full-face masks. It provides a numerical measure, known as a fit factor, of how effectively the facepiece seals against the wearer's face.
