Frequently asked questions
Why should I choose a needle scaler for surface preparation?
A needle scaler is a targeted surface preparation tool suitable for small or confined spaces where traditional wet-blasting units may be unsuitable or difficult to access. Its smaller impact pattern also makes it suitable for removing coatings around live services.
What is meant by a 'low-vibration' needle scaler?
A low-vibration needle scaler may allow an operative to use the equipment continuously for up to eight hours. The device has a vibration level of 2.3 m/s², which is below the HSE action level of 2.5 m/s². To support prolonged use, the device must be well maintained and properly oiled.
Does the needle scaler require an air compressor to run?
Yes, the needle scaler requires an air compressor. Its air consumption is 2.6–5.5 lps–cfm. The compressor must be correctly calibrated to prevent damage from excessive air pressure or poor performance caused by insufficient pressure.
Are these needle scalers available to hire?
Yes, Thermac supplies needle scalers for hire and purchase. We also provide a servicing plan to ensure each device is tested, maintained and correctly calibrated.
